The Town of the Dead stands in the middle of the heartlands of England, it has long been rumoured to have a gateway to hell hidden under its soil, the magical energy of this, making it a haven for Vampires, Werewolves and other denizens of the dark.
the great war
around 150 years ago the gateway opened, leading to a war like no-other, humans stood alongside vampires and werewolves to defend their very existence from the threat that flooded out. In the first bloody few days tens of thousands died and a spell was cast to plunge the town and surrounding area into darkness so that Vampires could fight at any time. The war lasted a month, in which time the death toll had become uncountable but finally the demonic horde was pushed back and the gateway was sealed shut. The darkness caused by that spell in the early days of desperation lives on, making the city a playground for the vampires and werewolves alike as it is always night time.
the Circle
when the city was plunged into darkness, it was decided that an organisation was needed to help keep the balance between the various factions within the city, thus the circle was created. it is funded by the Vampire council as well as those of the Humans and Werewolves thus it keeps a diverse membership. In its 145 years of operation, the Circle has had five different commanders and the current c/o is Austin Darkora who served during the great war.
