Carla rolled her eyes at their conversation. "Greasy? Yuck. You can't just cook a fry up like that! I mean, just for the sausages... Everybody knows you have to marinade them first, and then bake them slowly in a roasting tin. And don't you even think about piercing them!" She added with a jab of her finger.
"And don't even get me started on kebabs!" She added fiercely.
She paused, beginning to get the impression that this may have seemed a bit of an odd thing to come out with.
"What? Can't I have a hobby?" She asked.

"Nah, you're more like my mother." Madoc replied cheekily, flashing Felix what he hoped would be a disarming smile. Unfortunatley for him, he looked more than a little worse for wear, so the overall effect probably wasn't as charming as he'd hoped. "Possibly a sister. Or a babysitter."
He shook his head at Felix's threat to unleash Dillon. "Oh gods, not that!" he said grinning. "Besides, we've got company." He said, glancing at Azrael. "You wouldn't inflict that on an innocent stranger, would you?"
As Felix disappeared resignedly, Madoc called "Thank you, dearest!", well aware that it meant he might end up wearing his breakfast instead of eating it.
He turned and stared at Carla in genuine shock. "You... what?" he said, wide-eyed. "You actually do that to the poor sausages?" He shook his head. "So, you've never had a decent sausage cooked on a grill? Or an open fire? What about hot dogs? Please tell me you've had one of them?" He reigned in his pork-themed rambling. "Besides, it's not a fry-up if you don't fry it, it's just... food."

Carla turned to Madoc, and took the tone of a person educating a very small child. "Look, I can see that you're stupid, so I'll explain this slowly." She told him. "Cooking sausages on a grill is too quick. You risk breaking the skin and broken skin means loss of flavour and juicyness. The best way to cook a sausage is to let it marinate first, to add flavour, and then cook it very slowly so that you don't damage the skin. While there are many methods of doing this, I prefer baking because it allows for the pre-mentioned marination. You can even marinate it while cooking if you use this method."
"Incidently, grilling a sausage is not the same as frying a sausage, so you just defeated your own point." She added, apparently pleased with herself.

Azrael couldn't help but raise one side of his mouth into a slight smirk when he was revered to as 'innocent'. He chose to listen to the conversation rather than get involved with it. He took another swig of his drink, surprised that he only had half a glass left afterwards.

(I'm double posting to try and be productive.)
Azrael was curious as to the nature of this bar. "Who's the owner of this place?" He asked. These three appeared too young to fit the profile.

A number of witty retorts to Madoc's comment swam through Felix's head but in the end he decided to let the matter drop as Carla went off on how to properly cook a sausage. When it came to food, Felix was only really good at Japanese and Russian cooking, Russian more than Japanese simply due to the fact his mother hated him and kicked him out of the kitchen whenever he tried to watch her. He ended up looking recipies up online in a rather pathetic attempt to gain her approval as a child.
Still, he filed away Carla's comments to give it a go later. If nothing else it would be something different from Miso Soup and Nabe.
He worked quickly and easily, really, the number of times he'd cooked breakfast for people was quite astounding. He should probably convert some of the rooms and turn the house into a B&B, he'd probably earn more money - though he doubted if he could actually tolerate having someone he didn't know and trust sleep under the same roof - well... passed out drunkards didn't really count, the worst they could do to him was fall over and throw up once they'd reached a certain point.
He was just carrying the dishes through when he caught the Newcomer's question.
"That would be me," the blond said as he set the plate of sausage, egg, bacon, hash brown and butter fried mushrooms with buttered toast in front of Madoc and two bowls, one of porriage and the other of sugar, in front of Carla.
"Our Licenses are up to date if that's what you're worried about." Moe hadn't bothered with it to be honest, his License had lapsed roughly a year before Felix reached Edgehaven, when Moe left, it was the first thing Felix had gone and sorted out. The Broken Bottle was fully legitimate and they even had a reliable supplier of alcohol, they hadn't missed a delivery yet and while Felix probably paid them a little more than he would have normally, it just meant they were more determined to do a good job.

Azrael wasn't bothered about their licence at all. That is a job for the police, not the watch. "You're awfully young," Azrael commented. "Did someone leave this to you or did you start it yourself?

Carla was pushing her porridge around the bowl in that way people did when they knew they really should eat, but didn't actually want to. She looked up at Azrael's comment, and couldn't resist chiming in.
"C'mon dude, he's a vampire. He could be, like, seven hundred and six for all we know and still look like the girly boy he does." She pointed out, in case somehow the newcomer had missed the fact that Felix wasn't human. "Uhh, no offence, by the way." She added to Felix, remembering why she'd moaned about Madoc speaking up for no reason just moments earlier.

Felix ignored Carla's comment with a skill born of familiarity, "The previous owner didn't rate his survival very high after his leg was torn off. He left the pub to me before he left. And I'm twenty, thanks," he informed the shaggy haired male as he began to gather up the mop and other assorted cleaning supplies so he could go and handle the problem in the mens' bathrooms.
Idly, he wondered if he really should get Madoc to mop up after himself but decided to be kind and leave the human to his breakfast.

Madoc, rather childishly, stuck his tongue out at Carla. "Look, you have your fancy, proper way of cooking sausages like the lady you are," he said, without a hint of sarcasm, although he did have a bit of a smirk, "let me cook mine like the slob I am." He looked at Azrael curiously at his question.
Luckily, Felix came back through carrying food on a tray before Madoc could open his mouth, and he lost all interest in the blond's reply as a plate with more or less a full English was placed in front of him. He picked up his fork and started shovelling. "You know what, Fe?" he said, swallowing a mouthfull of egg, "You... are brilliant. Bloody brilliant." He shovelled a fork of mushroom and bacon to join the egg. "Thought you were hungry?" He asked Carla, noticing the way she was playing with her porridge.

Carla wrinkled her nose at Madoc's greasepile. She couldn't actually remember saying she was hungry (although she knew food was meant to help when hungover), but now she was really not hungry.
"Yeah, funny how a metric ton of grease can put you off eating..." She muttered, forcing herself to look away from the disaster that was Madoc's food.
"So, is that 'twenty twenty' or 'I've been twenty for a long time' twenty?" Carla asked Felix conversationally. "What? I find that kinda important to clear up when talking to vampires."

Azrael, slightly annoyed by the distinctive smell of fried food, was beginning to get hungry. He didn't have anymore money on him so he decided to cook something when he returned to the HQ.
"It's just twenty," Azrael answered in Felix's place. As obvious as it was to him, he forgot how few other people could estimate the age of a vampire. He was trained in this sort of thing when he first joined the watch.

Felix paused in his mopping to answer Carla, only to be beaten to it by the stranger. Immediately causing mismatched blue and green eyes to snap to him in surprise and growing suspicion. Figuring out how old a Vampire was through sight alone was not something that anyone could do, regardless of how observant they were, he had to be well trained in knowing what to look for and identifying it. Madoc was fairly good but that was just identifying a species, and that was a skill that most natural born Edgehaveners developed out of survival requirements.
Guessing age.... was a whole different kettle of fish.
"Yes, yes twenty," he confirmed slowly as he mentally tried to figure out who this guy was, he was clearly human so that cleared Lemartes, Carla would have recognised him or he would have recognised her had he been Devil's Advocates so that left either Night Watch or a new Warrior of a higher calibre than their usual appearing.
The simple fact that he had yet to try and kill him ruled out Vampire Hunter at least. Deciding to keep his nose out, the blond returned to cleaning up the vomit Madoc tracked in earlier.

Carla sighed, annoyed by Azrael showing off his cleverness. On form, Carla too could identify the ages of various beings, as well as species. She had, after all, been the front woman for Rino and his entire operation. It wasn't always easy, but a genuine twenty year old and a hundred year old tended to carry themselves a little differently.
But right now, she was so hung over and just trying to be irritating that she hadn't been able to. Not that she'd given it much real thought.
She didn't really give Azrael's knowledge much consideration. She wasn't thinking straight anyway, and figured he was just another Edgehaven wierdo.
"Ah, but was he born a vampire?" She threw out there, just to see what they'd say.

Madoc looked up from his pigging-out to answer Carla's question before either Felix or Azrael could. "Nah," he said, mopping up some egg with bit of toast. "Nah, see Fe... Fe's a Day Walker I reckon Maybe a Dhampire." He paused, trying to frame his logic into something tangible. "He doesn't have the aversion to sunlight that you get in a lot cof variations, but he ages like a human. That rules out being a full vampire or Dark Angel. Then you've got your Night Stalkers - Fe's far too good-natured to be one of those bastards. Which leaves Day Walker or Dhampire. Difference being that Dhampires have that whole telepathy thing going on, which I don't reckon Fe does. So my money's on Day Walker."
He munched his eggy toast. "Which means," he said as dramatically as is possible through a mouthfull of food, " that the answer to your question is yes. Or half-yes, anyway." He paused, anticipating the shocked expressions that awaited him. "Hey, I did a project on vampire variations in school. Wasn't particularly popular with the teacher, as I recall... but it's not like I knew she was a vampire!"
He stopped, aware that they were now talking about Felix as though he wasn't there. "Uh.... Sorry Fe, got a bit carried aware there."
