Eleri coughed. She had to admit, the captain was definately right now - you only got air like this in a vampire den. She stepped back as she watched him go for the door handle - there was no knowing what would be in there.
She blinked in surprise as the door opened to reveal a blinding display of... pink. It looked like the sort of bedroom that belonged to a spoiled, overly-girly pre-teen.
"..... um." She managed to splutter. She was still trying to recover from the surprise when Wright retrieved the handcuffs. Ok, perhaps it wasn't a kids room. She followed Wright throught the door and had a lookat the cuffs.
"I didn't know you were in to that sort of thing, sir." She said, grinning. She turned and inspected the room. "No room should have this much pink in it." She said. "It looks like... like an 8 year old got her hands on a fairy godmother's wand or something." Ok, it wasn't the best analogy, but it would do.

Hadrian stared at the abundence of pink, having traumatic childhood flashbacks of Luciana's pink stage - and the pink dresses she tried to force him into for stuffed animal tea parties (and succeeded but only when she started to cry and Hadrian freaked out thinking he was going to get into trouble).
And then Wright came up with handcuffs and Hadrian's brain shut down for fear of what would show up.
"Ahem, errr, ah," he spluttered intelligently, looking torn between horror and queasiness.

Wright gave Eleri a deadpan look. "Why do you think I became a police officer?" He asked, completely straight faced.
He left that hanging, hoping it left Eleri as confused as he hoped and walked out past her, dropping the handcuffs as he went. He looked up and down the dank corridor.
"If that's behind door number one..." He mumbled, not following up the question, but instead heading to the second door. He kicked this one down too (he didn't even bother to check if it was locked).
There was another substantial pause. And then came probably the oddest question Wright had ever asked.
"Okay... who needs a swimming pool full of custard?"

Eleri stared at Wright in mild horror after his deadpan reply. She was still trying to decide whether to laugh or not when he... opened the next door.
"Custard?" She called, regaining her composure and coming out into the corridor to join the captian and Hadrian, who seemed to have gone into shock. She patted his arm soothingly in an absent-minded way.
"Does anyone else get the feeling that there might be a room full of puppies and kittens in here somewhere? Possibly with a few melting clocks" This was getting surreal. Very, very surreal.

Hadrian followed along after the Captain and Eleri, "Dear god I hope we don't find an S&M room," he muttered. He didn't think he could tolerate something like that. It would be too fucking creepy - well actually it would probably put him at ease considering how this was a Vampire den. Less of a mind fuck.

Wright turned slowly to Hadrian, taking in what he had just said. He glanced back at the room, custard splattered up the walls.
"Not puppies and kittens...no..." Wright said quietly to himself in response to Eleri. "Corporal Beaumont, you're a genius!" He exclaimed, suddenly becoming a lot more animated as he worked out what was going on.
"They're fetish rooms! Look!" He ran over to the edge of the pool. "Look at the surface. Badly disturbed. Splatter up the walls. If we were trying to work out what had gone on here, what would you say? There was a fight! It's custard wrestling!"
"Think about it! Nobody goes in or out! What would you do if you were locked in a building with nothing to do? Every one of these rooms, every single one, they must be for...entertainment. And not the wholesome family kind..."
Sadly, Wright didn't get much chance to enjoy his wholesome puzzle solving skills as a voice cut him off. "Not bad. Worked it out by the second room. Guess I lost the bet."
The speaker was a long haired, slightly greasy looking vampire, dressed in clothes that could only be described as 'nineties'. He was flanked by two other, equally retro looking vampires. "Kicking down doors makes a lot of noise." The vampire explained, flashing a fangy grin. "Still, hey, live juicy humans delivered straight to your door. Better than take out. We'll have to kill the half breed though. No offence." He shot to Eleri.
Wright eyed Hadrian and Eleri steadily, without saying a word, making sure they were both ready.
"The boss'll want to see you first though, so c'mon. Hurry up. I've got an appointment in a hour I really don't want to miss." He turned to Hadrian, grinned, and hissed. "Mine's the S&M room."

Eleri closed her eyes and groaned. "Brilliant. Not just vampires, but S&M vampires." She opened her eyes just as the voice cut Wright off and stared at the newly-arrived Vampires. 90's fashion... which was basically left-over 80's fashion. That would make sense, they'd been in here for at least ten years.
"Half-breed?" she spluttered. She glared at the lead vampire, who laughed. It was infectious too, she wanted to laugh with him. She wondered whether he was doing it on purpose, and that thought kindled her anger. His words confirmed her suspicions though, the worst they would do to her was kill her.
She reigned in her anger and looked at Wright, fire in her eyes. Now she was starting to understand why he hated vampires so damn much. Soundlessly, she nodded her head once to signal to the captain that she was ready. Strangely, she wasn't so much afraid for herself as she was for the others - mostly though, she wanted to shoot someone.

If he didn't think it would have been a bad idea, Hadrian probably would have pulled his eyeballs out of their sockets at the sight of their clothes. Oh holy FUCK. Who wore that stuff anymore?!!
His hand twitched toward his gear even before Wright looked at him, then came the S&M comment. And oddly enough, relief filled him.
Still, he didn't say what was on the tip of his tongue the whole 'oh my god, a normal one its a normal one! This place isn't populated by custard wrestling freaks!'
He was never going to be able to enjoy a custard donut again in his life.

Wright glared back at the vampire, and got ready to act. And then, in a flash of movement, he drew his notepad.
"Hi there. Nicholas Wright. EHPD. We're investigating the use of this building and was wondering if you could help us with our inquiries?" He asked in his most friendly and jovial manner (which, to be fair, wasn't very friendly at all, but at least he was trying).
The vampires stared back, gaping, with startingly similar expressions to those previously worn by Wright and his officers when confronted by the custard swimming pool
"We'd also like you to adjust your tone when addressing us. After all, we wouldn't want to have to charge you with abusing an officer of the law." He added, and for the first time, those that knew him may have realised he was struggling to keep a straight face.
"Okay, fine. We'll do it your way." The vampire answered, and before Wright could get out another sarcastic fake helpful comment, the vampire lunged at him and hurled him across the room. The other two vampires advanced on Eleri and Hadrian.
Wright staggered to his feet, wielding the pencil he had been poised to right with.
"Make that assaulting an officer." He groaned.

Eleri watched, attempting not to laugh, as Wright began to question the lead vampire. Naturally, the first time he does things properly and it's completely innapropriate... she thought, amused. The amusement soon wore off as the Captain was thrown across the room.
She eyed the two advancing vampires cautiously but did nothing until the captain got to his feet again. Oh good, she thought as he made what he probably thought was a witty statement. He's fine. She caught movement in the corner of her eye and spun around to find that one of the vampires had taken a leap at her. She ducked, narrowly avoiding a face-full of fang and whipped around in time to avoid a fist to the back of the head. Instead, it hit her square in the jaw.
"Right." She said, glaring at the offending vampire and rubbing her chin. That was going to leave a nasty bruise. "That sort of behaviour is not going to win you any points." The vampire grinned and took another swing. This time, he missed. Partly because Eleri had seen it coming and dodged out of the way, mostly because she was now holding his other arm in a vice-like grip behind his back. She twisted. "I might only be a half-breed, but I bet I could snap that arm right off." She told the vampire quietly. "Want to push your luck?"
The vampire struggled and tried to kick her instead. She lost her footing and her grip on the vampires arm slipped, although she didn't let go. As she stumbled, she knocked the vampire off balance too. She regained her balance first, kicked the vampire's feet from under him and stood on his neck, twisting his arm a bit more. "Go on, try it again." She threatened. When the vampire didn't, she turned her head to see what the other two were doing.
"You alright, Captain?" She called to Wright. "I think we might need those handcuffs after all."
((Eleri's surprisingly bad-ass when she gets insulted xD))

Hadrian squawked in what he was fully aware was not a manly fashion as he ducked out of the Vampire's reaching grasp, truncheon snapping out and beating against the Vampire's shins, making him lose his balance and fall forward. The curly haired male scrambled out of the way and jammed his tazer into the Vampire's hip, he wasn't as strong as Eleri and he certainly wasn't as resourceful as Wright, so that just left malicious - which he was a lot more of, except maybe Wright in certain situations.
By the time Eleri had her Vampire subdued, Hadrian had snapped a pair of handcuffs on his dazed attacker - he wasn't unconscious or particularly damaged, he'd dialled down the voltage just in case the Captain got pissed with him. He didn't much like technology, or when Hadrian used it.
Or at least, that was the impression he got.

Wright lunged at the vampire attacking him with the pencil, aiming for the vampire's eye. The vampire saw this coming, thrust his hand up in front of his face, and let the pencil go straight through his hand. He pulled his hand back, pulled out the pencil, and tossed it aside, apparently unconcerned by the wound to his hand.
Wright just gave an annoyed look back. "Now how am I going to write things down!?" He asked in irritation, before the vampire responded by throwing a punch. Wright managed to block it, but the vampire was several times stronger than him, and it took him off his feet again, causing extreme bruising to his arm. He went down to the floor and skidded to the edge of the pool. The vampire advanced, only to get a face full of custard hurled at it.
Temporarily blinded, by the time the vampire had managed to get the custard out of its face, Wright was attacking with his truncheon, delivering blow after blow at the vampire's face. He had, since, fashioned the other end of the truncheon into a stake, but given he wasn't aiming to kill here, he wasn't using it.
The vampire seemed to hover for a moment, doing nothing, and then in a lightning flash grabbed the truncheon on Wright's next assault. "See, why didn't you use that in the first place?" The vampire asked, yanking it out of Wright's hands and turning it on the police captain. He swung wide with it, aiming to deliver a fatally powerful blow to Wright's face.
Luckily, Wright could move faster than a wide blow, and kicked upwards with all his might into the vampire's genitals. Even vampires could feel that. Even before the vampire could react and collapse, he brought his leg down on the inside of the vampire's kneecap, dislocating it and smashing it into the floor. Vampires had a much higher pain threshold than humans, but you could still break parts of them and they wouldn't function right anymore.
He grabbed the vampire, and hurled him with all of his strength into the custard swimming pool, snapping out a pair of handcuffs and snapping them to the pool ladder and vampire's wrist, to keep him imprisoned.
He turned back to the other two to see how they'd faired. "Perfectly to plan." He told them, pretending that he wasn't still seeing stars.

Eleri watched as both Hadrian and Wright dealt with their individual vampires. She was impressed by Hadrian's skill with the tazer - the only time she'd tried using one, she'd ended up shocking herself and had steered clear of them since.
Wright, however, was handling his with his usual skill and, naturally, was going to end up needing at least some medical attention by the time they were finished, Eleri could tell. She noted that he was using the modified truncheon; she didn't approve of it, partly because she didn't like the thought of somebody trying to use a stake on her, which had happened once, but mostly because she couldn't help but wait for Wright to end up stabbing himself in the eye with it one of these days. Still, at least he wasn't using the jabby end.
Her vampire had made the most of her distraction and managed to wriggle his neck out from under Eleri's boot; he was currently in an awkward kneeling position trying to slip his arm free without being noticed. Eleri glanced down at him, managing to give him a Look without turning her head. The vampire grinned sheepishly before Eleri's foot colided with his face, knocking him to the ground again. Remembering that she also had handcuffs on her, she snapped them over his wrists and replaced her foot on the back of his neck.
"Absolutely, Sir." She replied, pretending not to notice the slightly dazed expression on Wright's face. "So what do we do with these three now?" She gave the vampire under her foot another Look for good measure.

Wright held up a finger to signify that he had a plan. He dived into one of the pockets on his police vest, and fished around for a bit. Eventually, he pulled out a bundle of paper. Clearly, even Wright knew the odds were he'd get thrown arouned so much whatever it was would break, and had taken steps to protect it.
He unwrapped it, and held up a lightbulb. "Ultraviolet." He explained, passing it to Hadrian. "Corporal Beaumont, fit that. It should be enough to drain their strength and hold them. At least until we're done upstairs."
He was aware that the vampires didn't say anything to this, and just watched. Somehow that was worse than taunting. He had a feeling something bad was waiting for them up there.
"Only brought one though. Funny. Didn't think I'd need more. Still, good idea, right?" He said, a little disheartened that his plan wouldn't accomidate an entire building of vampires.

Eleri cocked her head and watched Wright expectantly as he produced the bulb from his pocket, shaking her head in disbelief that it was still intact. "That, sir, is nasty." She said with a grin. If she didn't have a nasty feeling that the three currently-subdued vampires would break out and come after them again, she'd have objected more. That said...
She dragged her vampire over to where Wright had imprisoned his and handcuffed him to the pool ladder as well. Strangely, none of them seemed to be putting up a fight any more. Instead, they were just watching, as if they were waiting for something.
"Brilliant idea, sir." She agreed, watching the vampires. It was disconcerting, the way they were suddenly so calm. "Shame we don't have more." She dragged her eyes away from the vampires and eyed the UV bulb that Hadrian was now holding. "I'll just... wait out here, sir, if it's all the same to you." she said, backing out of the room. "Not too fond of UV light myself, you know."
