((Wasn't sure where the Cathedral would be, so I thought I'd pop it here ^^))
Dr Moriarty Holt, newly arrived in Edgehaven, looked around him in wonder. He had known that the city was in a state of perma-darkness, but he hadn't been quite prepared for what that meant. At first he'd found it hard to see after the bright sunlight of Bellepheron, but his eyes had quickly adjusted to the lack of natural light.
He had done a brief tour of the city on foot, noting the locations of landmarks like the police station and hospital, and his feet had, inevitably, led him to the huge catherdral in the centre of the city. He had been studying the symbols carved in to the stone arch above the door of St Michael's All Angels for the better part of five minutes, deciphering each one in turn. Evidently, someone was intent on keeping out the non-human inhabitants of Edgehaven.
Despite having been in the city for a few hours now, Moriarty had yet to see anyone that had struck him as being an obvious vampire or lycan, a fact which had disappointed him slightly. Still, the sigils on the church gave him renewed hope that his expectations hadn't been in vain.
The wooden door stood half-open in front of him, and so he slipped in to the church silently. The inside of the cathedral seemed as big as it had from the outside, the high walls and painted ceiling looming above him. At first glance, it looked spectacular, but Moriarty had the impression that, should he look closer, he would see the paint cracked and peeling.
The sound of his shoes on the stone floor echoed, and alerted the elderly nun that had been lighting candles in front of the alter to his prescence. She turned to inspect him as he approached. "Can I help you?" She asked suspiciously, narrowing her eyes. She was more shrewd that she appeared, and Moriarty guessed she wasn't used to new people entering the church.
"I was just passing, and thought I'd like to see the inside of the cathedral." He explained softly. He'd never gotten used to speaking loudly in a church. "It's been a while since I saw a proper structure like this."
