Eleri mentally applauded Hadrian. Then she looked around at the carnage in the streets nearby. She'd become a police officer to protect people, and yet this was happening...
She shook her head. What she wouldn't give for a cup of tea right now....

Hadrian eyed the carnage below, biting his lower lip before he was quickly struck with inspiration.
"You had a megaphone on your desk, did you grab it on your way out?" He asked the older woman, an idea to get both the Demon's attention and all the civilians out of the general area. He could already see a few running towards the gas saturated police station, hoping that they would be safe within the building where there were weapons and heavy steel cells which could withstand having buildings dropped on them.

"Sure." Eleri replied. She unhooked the bag from one shoulder and slung it around. She removed the megaphone and handed it to Hadrian.

Hadrian grabbed it and dialled the sound settings up to full, "ATTENTION ALL CIVILIANS, GET OUT OF THE AREA!! SEVERAL GAS MAINS HAVE BEEN BROKEN AND THIS SECTION IS GUNNA GO UP LIKE A POWDER CAKE!!
"I REPEAT! ALL CIVILIANS GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE AREA IF YOU DON'T WANNA DIE!!" He bellowed into the megaphone, sucessfully getting the attention of every human who wasn't running around like their heads were off and screaming as well as the Demon. He looked at the Captain, "Well, you wanted to grab its attention." He told his boss, tone of voice vaguely sick as though he'd just realised that he would probably die right here.
He kind of regretted shouting at his mother earlier now. For teasing his sister.
Hell, for throwing the phone at Oscar too.

"I think that's powder keg, actually." Wright said quietly. "Although I could go for some powder cake..." He didn't know what powder cake was, but it sounded good.
"Right then. if you're done insulting my aim, I'm just going to go risk my life and my home to save the city, okay?" He said moodily, raising an eyebrow at Hadrian.
He grabbed onto the rope hooked around the demon, and gritted his teeth.
"Don't wait up!" He held on tight to the rope in one hand, shotgun in the other, took a run up, and leapt...
...swinging out onto the back of the demon, and fired at point blank range, hitting it. It let out a defiant roar, turning to try and get a grip on him. He cocked the shotgun one handed, and began to climb up onto the demon's head. He finally got up there, and grabbed onto one of its horns for balance.
The demon threw its head back and tossed him off balance. He lost the shotgun and watched it plummet onto the creature's shoulder as it roared, and threw fire into the sky from its breath. He held on to the horn with desperation, and many thoughts ran through his mind about how this was a really really bad idea. The demon threw its head down, and reached for him with a long clawed hand, and Wright rolled away, falling off of the head and crashing down on the same shoulder as the shotgun (which had lots of nice armoured spikes on, the same thing the grapple hook had grabbed onto, had hooked the shotgun and now stabbed into him). Trying to ignore the pain, he grabbed the shotgun just as the demon turned to face him.
Had Wright been a thinking man, it might have been a good time for a one liner. Sadly, all he could think of was 'ow' and therefore he just pulled the trigger.
The demon roared, taking the shotgun blast to the face, and replied by simply grabbing Wright and hurling him at the ground.
Wright tried to remain calm. He often found himself in hopeless situations. But it was okay. Something was bound to happen. Maybe he could grab the rope and swing-
SMACK.
He hit the ground, hard. Luckily, the ground in question was the station's skip, full of all the paper he had blown out with the fan earlier.
Unluckily, he had been thrown by a fifty foot demon and it'd take more than a few sheets of paper to break his fall.
His world became darkness, his last thought being 'I'm sure I'll find a way out of th-bugger'.

Eleri watched in horror at the scene that unfolded before her. As Wright plummeted to the ground, she did the only thing her brain knew how to. She screamed.
She'd probably claim later that if she hadn't been drinking, she wouldn't have. But she had and she did. She stopped as soon as she noticed that the shrill sound was coming from her.
She slapped herself mentally and forced herself to breath. Ok, her commanding officer had just been thrown from a fifty-foot demon and was probably very badly hurt and unconcious.
"Looks like it's up to us..." she said to Hadrian. "Let me think..." she closed her eyes, all too aware that there was now a very angry demon very close.
"Ok, Hadrian, I'm going to need you to keep its attention for a few minutes. There's no way we can leave the captain out here. I'm going to get him. Just... do me a favour, don't do anything stupidly heroic like try and climb the damn thing." she told him, smiling softly.
Without waiting another moment, she dashed across the street, narrowly avoiding the demon's feet. She reached the skip containing the previous contents of the station and the captain and gasped. He was in a nasty way - she forsaw many more assaults with the antiseptic cream and bandages - if he made it...
She pushed that thought out of her mind, reached into the skip and pulled the unconcious Wright out, trying not to make his numerous injuries any worse. The wound from the demon's spiked shoulder was bleeding, making her headache even worse.
I hope this is over soon...
She lifted Wright carefully over her shoulder, in a very awkward firemans lift, and made her way back to Hadrian, making a mental note to give Wright a worse Look than he'd ever had when he woke up, followed by a loooong lecture about being careful.

"No need to worry about that." Hadrian muttered, whipping out the gun she had given him earlier and taking careful aim, "I still have more than two braincells to rub together." He growled under his breath and cracked off three rounds into the gaping wound the Captain had made earlier with the shotgun.
The Demon roared furiously and swung its head around to face him and Hadrian panicked for a split second before he hit the on button on the megaphone and tossed it over the demon's head, thanking every diety in the universe and several others that he had damn good aim as the meaphone hit the powerlines behind it, the elecritiy frying through the phone's circuits in that splitsecond before the thing blew up was amplified and nearly blew his eardrums out. It successfully distracted the demon from him as Eleri arrived carrying the Captain.
"Now what?" He asked the older woman yet again taking aim, waiting for it to turn back to them - which it did - only to recieve three bullets to its eyeball causing a furious shriek of pain to hammer against his eardrums. "Ow fucking owwww!" He shouted grabbing at his head as his ears protested the abuse most pointedly.

Eleri winced visably at the noise from the megaphone and then the demon, and almost dropped Wright.
"Now?" She echoed. She closed her eyes and tried to block out everything. It wasn't easy. The noise, the smell of the blood, the aftertaste of that god-awful whisky... she opened her eyes and looked at the unconcious Wright slung over her shoulder. What would you do? What were you thinking? she asked him silently.
Of course, the logical answer was that he hadn't been thinking when he'd climbed up a fifty-foot demon and shot it in the head.
The gas pipes...
She opened her eyes. "You genius." She muttered at Wright, glad he was unconcious. She'd never admit it to his face.
"We hide." She told Hadrian. "In the cells. The door is thick, it should withstand the blast. And a blast that big should do enough damage to seriously injure the demon, if not kill it."
She glanced at the demon. They'd either need to make it so angry it would try and ignite them, or she'd have to use her lighter. She hoped it didn't come to the second.
"Come on." She said, shifting Wright slightly and leading the way back into the gas-filled station.

Hadrian barked a bitter laugh, "And if the falling building doesn't kill us then suffocating under all the rubble and Demon Jiblets will." He retorted sarcastically but followed her never the less without anymore argument - if you could call that an argument.
Figuring he needed to make it follow them, he took aim again and pulled the trigger - swearing when he realised he'd used up all six rounds earlier. Well, he was buggered.

((Apologies for the massive post but I couldn't stop writing on the good bit )) Eleri glanced over her shoulder at Hadrian. "We'll be fine. The demon should disintergrate once it's dead." she told him in what she hoped was a reassuring voice. Behind them, the demon was recovering from the injuries Wright had inflicted. It swatted at the megaphone, dislodging it enough to stop the noise and ripping down the powerlines as it did so. The live wires fizzed and sparked on the ground. Eleri had an idea. "Hold him." She told Hadrian in a tone that defied backchat. She shifted the unconcious captain onto Hadrian and dashed away around the other side of the live power cables. She pulled out the Magnum and fired at the demon. "Oi! Ugly!" She screamed. The demon ignored her - it was looking for Wright. Eleri got closer, skirting around the crackling cables and fired again. The bullet hit the demon in the foot. It roared and turned its attention to Eleri. It took a step towards her. She dashed around the other side and the demon turned, following her. She backed towards the station. As she'd hoped, the demon's foot tangled in the broken cable. Eleri fired again and again, emptying the gun into the demon. The demon roared again angrily and stepped forward again, advancing in a very menacing manner. The cables around its foot tightened until the telegraph pole supporting them fell down and was dragged forward. "Come on!" She yelled at Hadrian. She grabbed Wright back from him and dragged him unceremoniously into the station. "Don't breath in!" She instructed, dragging Wright towards the cells. She dropped him on the floor and heaved the heavy door open. Wright was not going to thank her in the morning, but as long as they were all alive, Eleri really didn't care. Eleri dragged Wright backwards down the stairs and into the cell furthest from the door. As soon as Hadrian was safely in the basement too, she pulled the main door closed and waited, crouched in the furthest corner of the cell. She gestured to Hadrian to do the same. As she'd hoped, the demon became even angrier at being denied its prey. It roared and brought its foot down onto the station. Nothing happened. "Wrong foot!" Eleri muttered. "Come on... come on...." She offered up a prayer to whichever god may be watching. It worked. The demon brought its other foot down. It crashed through the roof of the station, straight through the floorboards and into the gas main. The explosion shook the foundations of the building. Eleri closed her eyes and prayed they'd make it through.

"Hell of an alarm clock!"
Wright bolted awake, and swayed uneasily, propped up against the wall. He slumped down, and his head let the rest of his body know he had a major concussion and more broken bones than even he was used to. There was a thud as the remains of the demon body fell down above, almost coming through the roof.
But that wouldn't stop him doing something he had to do. "Corporal Mortymer! Lance Corporal Beaumont!" He snapped. "Did you just blow up my police station!?" He didn't sound happy.
And then he remembered the plan. "Urr, because if so....good job." He managed to recover, wincing in pain. Fighting with werewolves suddenly seemed so easy.

Eleri opened her eyes. It was over.
"Well, technically, sir, it was the demon." she said, her voice shakey. She stood up, forced her legs to stop shaking and crouched next to Wright.
"You've got some nasty injuries." She said softly. "A few broken bones by the looks of it." She sighed and the smell of Wright's blood once again assaulted her vampire side. She retched.
"Excuse me sir." She stood up and crossed the dark room, resting her head against the cold stone of the far wall.
"How long do you think we'll have to wait until it's safe to go up there again?" She asked.

Wright gave a casual shrug. Which looked like it hurt. "If it didn't die in that explosion then we're gonna die anyway, so we might as well go up now." He explained. "I'd already be up there but my legs don't seem to be listening to my body." He looked down at them.
"Better not be broken. Broken legs are just annoying."
He paused, and his casual facade broke into one of pure agony.
"And they hurt too..." He managed to add.

Eleri took a deep breath and walked shakily back over to Wright. She knelt down next to him, pulled up the leg of his trousers and ran her hand over his shin.
"I can't feel anything wrong..." She did the same to the other leg, with much the same result. "How much does this hurt?" She asked, pressing gently on his knee.

Hadrian snorted bitterly, coughing on the dust that filled the air, "That was more fun than I ever want to have again." he stated before shifting up beside the wall and watching as Eleri gently pressed her hands against the leg in front of her and feeling for any breaks of tears in the muscle of ligaments. It was imprecise but it would be able to tell them whether or not the captain needed to be carried out, held up or left to his own devices. Hadrian was tempted to leave him to it anyway after that stupid stunt earlier - he could just imagine his mother's reaction, damn she was going to try and force him to stay at their house.
His mother! Oh jesus, the demon! All the blood drained from Hadrian's face, what if that thing got his mum and sister before coming here? Were they alright?! Were they even alive? He knew his mother had been here - the megaphone and bottle of whiskey the captain had been toting before they blew the place up was a hint. He groaned and placed his head in his hands, his heart sinking down to the very bottom of the floor and beyond.
((Edit: Because Eleri got there first.))
