Hadrian grinned and shook his head as the two started their little argument which culminated in a drinking contest. "This happen often?" He asked looking at the bartender in amusement. He was never much of a drinker, he was a lightweight just like his twin sister, Fae, he figured, could drink anyone under the table. Even that werewolf she sometimes had to work with when hunting down vampires in the states, they didn't get along but always ended up getting completely mashed at the same bar and starting a fight.

Wright's features flickered into a grin at Eleri's question, and he lifted the shot. "Dunno." He smirked. "Never lost before." He broke into a full grin before downing the shot.
A few more brain cells went overboard, but to somebody like Wright, this was a natural state of being, and it only took mere seconds to recover.
Mind you, he'd forgotten how much alcohol could be pumped into that little shot glass. Still, losing to Eleri wasn't an option, and besides, Wright thrived when drunk...

Eleri smiled back wickedly. It'd been ages since she'd had a drinking contest, and longer still since she'd lost one.
"Well there's a first time for everything." She said downing her second shot and chasing it with her beer.
"Ach, this stuff is disgusting." She said, pulling a face.

"Really?" Wright replied, casually downing his next shot. He fought every part of his body's urge to cringe just to pull off a perfectly non-plussed; "I didn't notice."
Wright would happily sacrafice anything if it meant he could be a smartass about it...
"'course, if you don't like it, you could always forfeit..."

"Hey, I didn't say it wasn't drinkable." Eleri replied, repeating the whiskey-beer routine a third time. "I just said it was disgusting."
She grinned, noticing Wright's attempt to not give away the fact that he thought it was disgusting too.
She knew she'd regret the competition in the morning, but the alcohol had just kicked in and right now it just seemed like such damn fun.

Wright gave another shrug, and downed the next shot. "Tasted worse." He remarked. Sadly, it was true. There was no limit to what Wright would try and eat while he was drunk, and if somebody was willing to eat it, there'd always be a vendor to sell it at 4am in the morning.
There was a rumbling off in the distance. Thunder, Wright figured. Either that or the Circle were saving the world again. Probably on top of some skyscraper having a final showdown with some demon or something equally melodramatic.
Showoffs, he thought bitterly, wishing it was his turn to drink again already.

Eleri didn't doubt that Wright had tasted worse than the whiskey, and told him as much as she downed her next shot.
"So," She said, slurring a little, "how long do your opponents usually last?" She asked him grinning.

Wright paused to consider this, and thoughtfully tapped the shot glass, as if counting.
"Between a few and lots." He decided, before drinking it. He blinked. "I'mma not very...good...at that...counting...ting...that some...people...sometimes....do." He said with great effort.
Numbers were Wright's natural enemy.
Well, that wasn't quite true. Werewolves and vampires and criminal scum were his natural enemy. But they didn't give his brain quite as much trouble as numbers...

Hadrian raised an eyebrow in amusement as he took a long swallow of his... well whatever it was. "We can see that captain." He informed the older man seriously, pressing his lips together to hide a grin. "Only sometimes?" He couldn't help but add grinning wickedly.

Eleri grinned and downed her next shot. She was starting to run low on beer, she noticed a little fuzzily. And the room was swaying. That wasn't right, rooms didn't sway...
She shook her head, trying to clear it, with little success. She was about to make a comment to Wright about beating him, when she heard a distant crash.
She blinked a few times and shook her head again, forcing her senses back into order. "Did anyone else hear that?" She asked.

Wright had indeed heard it, but assumed it was his liver trying to escape his body. It did it often, he felt, whenever he drank this much.
Crash. There was another one. And another. Crash. Crash. Crash. The shots vibrated on the table...
Wright tried to think about this. He was sure there was some movie where they watched the liquid vibrating as...something...happened. If only he could remember what it was... Something about a...
Suddenly, a giant foot smashed down through the roof of the pub, and landed so close to Wright he automatically flung himself away from it in pure shock.
Oh right. That.
It was a demon. A giant one. All horns and red flesh and basically Devil-like. And it was roaring. Wright could swear it was hotter near it too, but maybe that was his imagination.
Either way, nothing sobered you up like a giant demon nearly standing on you.
"Okay." Wright tried, attempting to take control of the situation, but nearly losing his balance. Okay, so nearly sobered you up like nearly being stood on. "Maybe, maybe, I've had too much to drink, but, if not..." He stuttered, looking at the monster. "...I think we'd better..."
"RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!" And he was already on his way to the door...

Eleri stood up, wobbled, and grabbed her gun. She suspected it wouldn't do much damage to whatever it heading towards them, but it was a comfort, in its way. However, when the foot came through the ceiling, she did the most un-Eleri thing possible.
She screamed.
Then she realised what she was doing and who she was with, stopped screaming and ran towards the door, grabbing her jacket as she did. She felt just drunk enough to justify that.
She didn't look around until she was outside, making sure that Wright and Hadrian were out safely too. She kept running until she was quite a way down the street, out of imediate harm. God bless comfy shoes.
"You can see that thing, right?" She said, panting. "It's not just that stuff having a weird effect on me?" She pulled her jacket on and kept a firm grip on her gun. She knew better than to shoot it though, she'd seen enough movies to figure out that it would be a bad idea.
"Back to the station?" She suggested, backing away.

Wright gave Eleri's weapon a casual glance. "Well, you've got a peashooter and I've got a..." He pulled out his truncheon. "...urm, nevermind." He decided.
"...I think we can take him..." He tried to argue, looking at their assorted weapondary and the giant monster.
However, luckily, common sense kicked in when the demon roared and seemed to set a good portion of the sky on fire.
"....after we strategically fall back to the station and think of a plan." Wright added smoothly. If the word 'smoothly' is placed in inverted commas and delivered with extreme sarcasm.

Eleri nodded. Her head was starting to swim again. Demons... she didn't remember demons. There hadn't been demons before. Maybe she should've stayed in London.... No, Edgehaven was Edgehaven. This just... happened.
She lead the way back to the station, trying to sort out her thoughts. A cup of tea was definately in order.

As they rushed away, Wright spotted the far off Devil's Advocates building, and red glow of battle far above.
"I bloody well thought so." He grumbled. "It's the Circle. Saving the world again. While the little people get stood on." He ranted in the typical ranty fashion of a drunk.
He looked behind him at the demon.
"Just, usually when I saw that, I don't mean literally."
