Edgehaven General Hospital, located next to the museum, is a large, busy building. Open to humans, werewolves and vampires alike, the staff are well-trained for almost any eventuality.
Well, this is Edgehaven - they'd need to be.

As Eleri walked down Edge street, she looked around. She caught sight of a sign and followed it. After a while, the trio arrived at the doors of Edgehaven General.
"I think we're here." She said. She flashed Wright a look that said 'best behaviour or else' and walked through the doors, still supporting him by the waist.
"Reception... reception..." she muttered, looking around. She hated hospitals - had ever since she was a little girl. It was the smell of the disinfectant, the sterility.... and the fact that her mother had spent the last months of her life in one.
She spotted the reception desk and half-carried the limping Wright over, horribly aware of how much they probably stuck out.
"I'm looking for A&E?" She said to the woman behind the desk.
"Down the corridor, first left." said the woman curtly, giving Wright a distasteful look.
"Thanks." Eleri replied, flashing her an overly-warm smile. "Come on, sir."

Hadrian grinned at the Captain, "Someone isn't well liked." He pointed out and smirked, "What with your dazzling wit and rustic charm I'm quite surprised." He snarked, eyes wondering to the various other people who had come in after being caught in that demon attack. His previously playful smirk dissolving into a frown, "Circle are heros huh?" He muttered scathingly as he watched a little girl cry and cry and cry as she clung to her older brother who was unconscious in their mother's lap.

Eleri grinned at Hadrian's comment, and then followed his line of sight.
"They don't look much like heros from here." She said quietly. "If this is what comes of heroics then count me out."
The little girl was a perfect example of why she hated hospitals - it was almost like looking at herself at 8 years old. Involuntarily, her lip quivered and her eyes dampened as she remembered exactly what it was like to be a scared little girl in a hospital waiting to find out whether a loved one would live or die.
She blinked and looked away, concentrating harder than necessary on the floor. This was the first time she'd been in a hospital since she was bitten and she was starting to realise that it wasn't such a great idea. The amount of hurt, worry and sadness in the A&E department and surrounding corridors was overwhelming and it was battering against her mind like a sledgehammer.
Once they reached the A&E reception, she lowered Wright into one of the few free seats and turned to Hadrian.
"Keep an eye on him, will you?" she said weakly, fighting back the urge to burst into loud, unexplained sobs. "I'll get him signed in or whatever it is..."
As she walked towards the desk, she fought to keep her composure. Goddammit woman, you should be setting an example. she told herself sternly.

Wright wasn't a massive fan of the hospital either. He was getting dirty looks, but in truth, the hospital served people who had been in bad fights all the time.
He somehow suspected the dirty looks might be coming from people who remembered him. It was a silly thought, and incredibly unlikely to be true, but it floated around in his head none the less.
Twenty years ago he'd been there. A long with what was left of the police force. Still a young rookie, he'd fought hard against the vampire onslaught, and ended up unconcious very fast. At the time of the attack, Edgehaven Yard had fifty coppers working for it. Eleven entered the hospital, in critical condition. Four left. One had fangs when he did.
One young rookie might have lost a good deal of idealism that night. And he might, just might, have stolen a scapel and tried to murder his ex-friend in front of all the doctors.
He remembered fuzzily words like 'lifetime ban' and had hoped they weren't serious. After all, it was a highly emotional time. He had to punch four psychiatrists in the face before they left him alone!
"I'm fine." He grumbled. "In fact, I feel better already. Let's go."

Eleri came back and sat down heavily in a chair next to Wright. "The nurse said just to wait until there's a doctor free." She put her hand out to stop him incase he tried to stand up. "Stay." She told him in a weary voice, almost automatically.
Her hand collided with Wright's shoulder and she was hit by a sudden flash of Wright's memories.
"Oh...." She said, whipping her hand away quickly. That was an... informative insight...
She massaged her forehead with one hand. She hoped there'd be a doctor free soon, although looking at the state of A&E, she didn't think so.
"I hate hospitals."

Wright gave Eleri an instinctive hurt look, as if he somehow knew she'd snuck a peek at his memories. He didn't, but something natural in him must have let him know. Like that feeling you're being watched when it turns out to be true, except this was in his own head...
"I love 'em." Wright grumbled with his usual sarcasm. "It's the only place nobody bothers me for being miserable." He added as way of explanation.

Eleri looked sheepish. She'd rather have to deal with the entire hospital's thoughts crowding around her brain than have looked into Wrights. She scratched her neck nervously and chewed on her lip.
One of these days, she decided, one day soon, she was going to learn to control that damn telepathy. Even it it meant she couldn't use it at all - which wouldn't be a bad thing. Oh, it was one of the more useful side effects of being vampire-food, but on occasions like this it was just a damn pain in the arse.
She leaned back against the chair and closed her eyes. Maybe if she couldn't see them, they'd leave her alone.

Hadrian looked at the older woman and hummed thoughtfully and dug into his pockets for his phone and oddly enough, a pair of ear buds, which he gave an odd look for a minute. How much miscellaineous crap did he HAVE in his pockets? Anyway. He handed the two to her.
"I've got a large playlist. Litsen to music it might help block them out if you're busy concentrating on that instead." He suggested with a shrug of his shoulders as he took off his tie - why he was still wearing it he would never know - and pressed it against the Captain's head which had been oozing for a while now and was, quite frankly put, making him squeamish.

"Block them out?" Wright repeated, not actually knowing what Hadrian was talking about. (He was too drunk and concussed to work it out, he didn't even protest the tie, some childish part of him thought it made him look like Rambo...). "I'm not a them. I'm a he. And no set of headphones can block me out."
He paused, looking at Eleri for a reaction.
"I SAID NO SET OF HEADPHONES CAN BLOCK ME OUT!" He yelled into her ear, before flashing Hadrian a childish grin.
Well, he had to do something to keep himself amused while bleeding to death.

Eleri opened her eyes and took the headphones gratefully from Hadrian. It was worth a try at least.
She gave Wright a look that clearly said 'you're hopeless', and put the headphones in.
She flicked through Hadrian's collection of music until she found something she liked and hit play. It seemed to work - there just wasn't enough room in her conciousness for all those emotions and the music.
She smiled and Hadrian and mouthed the words "thank you" to him.

The brunet waved her 0ff, a small grin on his face admitting that yes he was a little proud to have helped but he was damned if he was ever going to say it out loud.
"Well Captain, since you're so bored. Let's play a game. Its called 'Guess the Job'. Pick someone out in the hall and guess what their job is, you can't chose any of the nurses or the doctors though." He suggested before pointing to a woman with a bit too much make-up, a bottle blonde perm and a leather mini-skirt, "Now her, I'm going with prostitute or American Trailor Trash. What do you think?"

Wright casually glanced up and took her in, pausing for consideration for only a moment.
"Admin job. Sectary, probably. Probably not a bad paying job. I'd say for a law firm, but we all know what our law firm is like..."
He knew Hadrian would want an explanation for this rather off the wall assumption, and so gave a casual shrug.
"Clearly on a night out, thought it was the in thing to dress that way. Sad thing is she's right." Wright explained. "Not everybody's that easy to read..."

Post by Anake Kavanagh on Nov 29, 2008 11:56:03 GMT
Head nurse Anake Kavanagh strode through the halls of Edgehaven A&E, her uniform crisp and clean as always. It'd been her day off, and then some idiot had gone and blown up the old police station - Anake couldn't imagine what for, the place was deserted or near as dammit - and now there were crowds of people flocking to her hospital, which meant that every available member of staff had been called in.
She looked around the reception area - she could see a few cases of probable concussion, one or two unlucky people who'd been hit by debris, and a few of what she took to be broken bones from the way they were being held.
She dictated as much to a nearby nurse, and told her to distribute them accordingly among the interns and residents - in situations like this, Anake always tried to make sure the junior members of staff got cases they could handle. It tended to get people fixed better and faster.
She flicked through the charts of people waiting to be attended to until she came to one that she didn't trust to a younger member of staff - she might not have been a doctor, but Anake commanded a huge amount of respect in this hopsital and nobody was about to argue with her if she went ahead and treated a patient, especially not right now.
Wright, Nicholas.... why does that name sound so familar?, she thought, scanning the admission form. Probable broken limbs, serious gash in shoulder.... she scanned down the list of the man's injuries before snapping the chart shut and striding into the waiting area.
She scanned around for a moment before spotting the man that fitted the description. He was sat next to a woman with headphones in who looked as if the music coming through them was the most important thing in the world, and a young man who looked oddly familiar, although Anake couldn't think why. She'd probably treated a member of his family recently or somesuch.
She strode across to Wright and stood infront of him, arms folded.
"Nicholas Wright?" She asked.

Wright looked up wearily. Oh great. Nurses. Somehow, they never lived up to the fantasy, and they all for some reason took an instant disliking to him. They were all like Eleri, excpet without the grudging respect she had for him.
And that just meant they acted like fussy aunts who really didn't like him.
"Captain. Captain Nicholas Wright." Wright grumbled, apparently not satisfied with this nurse, who he'd already taken a disliking too, not knowing his rank.
"I'm fine, really. You treat these other people." He decided he might have better luck with the next nurse. Although he doubted it. Wright never had much luck with anybody. He wasn't a people person. "I'm...good. It's comfy here."
