"Lovely to meet you captain, I'm sure." Anake said in an unimpressed tone. "It's considered rude to dismiss the head nurse, you know. You may be used to commanding people, but in my hospital you listen to me."
She glanced at Hadrian and Eleri and noted the badges. "You may bring your officers with you for moral support if you like." She said. She noted the blood on Eleri and Hadrian's clothes and guessed the source. "They look like sensible young people." As she said this she cast Eleri's headphones a disapproving glance.
"This way then, if you please." She said, leading the way to one of the exam rooms nearby.

Eleri leant her head back against the seat and closed her eyes. The Beaumont family were definately a blessing - first Luciana and her clever nose-clip idea, and then Hadrian's music. Not to mention Elizabeth, in whom Eleri fel she'd found a somewhat kindred spirit.
She opened her eyes as she became aware of a new presence - one that seemed to shriek respect and order. She took the headphones out at the Look - now she knew how Wright felt. It was like being back in school with a very strict, old teacher.
As soon as the music was gone, the crowds of emotions flooded back, although not so strongly now that she was calmer. As the nurse walked away, Eleri handed the headphones and phone back to Hadrian.
"Thanks." She said, smiling gratefully.
She looked at Wright.
"I think we ought to follow her." She said. "Then again, we could always take you back to Elizabeth...." she added with a sly grin at Hadrian.

Oddly, Wright didn't feel like Eleri under Anake's onslaught of Looks and acting unimpressed. Unlike Eleri, Anake didn't have 'it'. She didn't have the power to effect him.
Eleri seemed to appeal to some deep seated guilt inside him, and somehow awaken it, and actually make him feel ashamed. It was because Eleri didn't outrank him, she had no real authority, but somewhere deep down inside Wright he knew she was right.
Anake was, in many ways, his equal. She ran the hospital, or so it sounded, and he ran the station. And if anything, he hated his equals. They always had power and went around like they ruled perfectly. Which, fine, so did he, but if he ever met himself he'd probably hate himself too.
Wright hated people like Wright, oddly, since he was a person like himself.
"Well, I'm considered a rude guy." Wright said cheerfully, smirking to Eleri and Hadrian, who he was pretty sure weren't on his side. Yet.
Time to bring them in as backup.
"Sergeant Mortymer and Corporal Beaumont can attest to that." He said without blinking, not helping the two to pick up on what he had just said.
"And here I was thinking the hospital belonged to the people of Edgehaven. Silly of me." He added just to get his final bitter comment in.

Eleri raised an eyebrow at Wright. "Sergeant Mortymer?" she asked, standing up.
Gingerly, she reached down to help Wright up. As she touched his arm, there was nothing. No flashes of anger, no frustration or confusion. She sighed with relief, and slid her arm around his waist again, hauling him gently (if you can haul somebody gently) out of the chair.
She gave him a rare sympathetic look. "I know how you feel, sir. Don't worry, we'll be out of here soon." If you haven't done yourself too much damage She added silently.

"That's what I said." Wright replied casually to Eleri's seeming confusion over the rank. He wondered if Hadrian had picked up on the lack of 'Lance-' in his own rank too.
"Damn straight we will be." Wright said with more confidence than was probably good for him. He was giving off that vibe that most prisoners convinced of their own escape would give off.
He wasn't sticking around, he was sure of that.
Just to emphasise, he began to whistle The Great Escape theme, watching Anake to see just how annoyed he could make her...

"Oh. Just making sure I heard right." Eleri said mildly.
She gave him a Look when he started whistling. "That's really annoying, you know that?" she told him. Still, the whistling was detracting from the waves of emotion that kept washing over her, so she said nothing further.
"You know, I wouldn't annoy the nurses - they have this way of making things even more uncomfortable if you do...." she said, recalling her last experience in a hospital. As far as she remembered, she'd tried to bite her doctor. She cringed at the memory and scratched her neck with her free hand.

Anake sighed as she lead the way to the exam room. She was starting to wish she'd handed this man over to one of the interns... one of the slower interns at that. Still, she'd decided she was going to treat him, and so she would.
As she reached the door of the exam room, the tune of the Great Escape reached her ears. Oh joy. She thought sarcastically. He's one of thosepatients.
The feeling that she'd met Wright before, or at least heard of him kept nagging at her, but she brushed it away. She'd treated most of Edgehven at one time or another, and she had a good memory, so it wasn't suprising.
"Did you say Corporal Beaumont?" She asked casually as she opened the door. "Any relation to Elizabeth Beaumont?" She asked Hadrian.
She turned around and saw Eleri, headphones-free, supporting Wright. "On the table, if you would." She said to Eleri. "Him, I mean." she added, nodding at Wright.
With a meaningful look at Wright, she turned her back, opened a draw and pulled out a pair of rubber gloves. She washed her hands in a basin on the wall and then pulled the gloves on with a loud snap.

Wright gave the nurse a sarcastic salute and sat onto the table. "Hey, I wouldn't call me annoying, Sergeant." He said, as if hurt. "Gee, you do one nice thing for people and they're still nasty..." He added, in a way that made it very hard to believe he cared.
"And here I was hoping medical science had moved on." He grumbled. "This is going to hurt, isn't it?"

Hadrian snorted, "Be thankful she isn't giving you a Prostate exam to go along with what she's already planning on doing to you." He warned, grinning evilly at the Captain before turning to the Head Nurse, "Yes, she's my mother. She's not here is she?" He asked, suddenly somewhat paranoid and very worried - he may be the 'awkward/rebellious' twin, but he was a mama's boy through and through. (Then again, his mama kicked ass so he could be forgiven for it.)
And for the record, he had caught the 'Corporal' refferance in regards to him, but just brushed it off. He had said earlier that they would be getting promotions, he just thought there would be more paperwork involved. Then again, this was Wright, he most likely hadn't picked up a pen or pencil for any other purpose than to ram them through someone's eyeballs - no that'd kill them, the Captain had a strict 'no killing' thing which was surprising in a place like Edgehaven.
((btw: I JUST GOT A JOB!! 8DDDD *is very happy*))

Anake turned back to Wright and co. "This is going to hurt as much you make it." she said curtly.
"No, no. Not as far as I'm aware." She said to Hadrian. "I was just wondering why you looked familiar - it's the family resemblance. Don't worry, I'm not a close friend of hers, just an admirer of her jewellery."
She turned to Wright.
"Now then, let's take a look at that leg." She said in her best Nurse Voice. She advanced on Wright, rolled his trouser leg up and tutted.
"Fractured, I expect." she muttered to herself. She tested Wright's leg, feeling carefully for any unusual bumps or gaps. She clicked her tongue and shook her head. "I'd say you've fractured your tibia, but you're going to need an X-Ray."
Moving up to Wright's arm, she undid Eleri's temporary sling and examined his wrist and lower arm. "Just a sprain." She told him. "Should be fine in a week or so as long as you keep it rested and out of the way. The sling was a good idea."
She turned her attention to his shoulder. After poking about in it for a few minutes and examining it with a miniature torch, she said "That gash, however, is going to take rather a long time to heal - you've almost gone to the bone on that. You're lucky you didn't hit anything serious."

((Congrats on the job!))
"Oh no!" Wright cried. "Not my tibia!"
He paused, and looked desperately to Eleri. "What's a tibia?" He whispered urgently, just loud enough for Anake to hear.
"Oh, and don't worry, I'm never serious, so no risk of that." He added, unable to help himself when she'd said he might have hit something 'serious'.

((Well gone Hadrian. Glad someone's had some luck!))
Eleri stifled a smile.
"It's hospital talk for 'shin bone', sir." She whispered back. One of the things she hated about hospitals was the way the staff over-complicated everything.
Now that they were in a provate room, seperated from the rest of the hospital, Eleri's head felt a lot clearer, although she wasn't looking forward to having to leave.

((Hee! ^^ thanks. Unfortunately its one really damn boring job. Yay for Skip permits. >>; Oh well. Employment is employment. XD I'm just embarrassed cause my mum and dad called up the WHOLE family and told them, like my unemployment was some kind of running joke .___.))
Hadrian breathed a sigh of relief, his mother wasn't here, that meant both her and Luci were alright. Or dead. He folded his arms and refused to acknowledge that thought.

Anake gave Wright a long-suffering look, and said. "That's right, captain. What it means is that if you have fractured it, you'll have to have cast until it heals."
She binned the rubber gloves, which were now tinged with Wright's blood, and picked up the phone on the wall. "This is Anake, I'm going to need an X-Ray ready - just a leg and arm. Thanks." She said, replacing the phone in the cradle.
"Now then, there should be an x-ray ready in the next few minutes." She said, turning back to the police trio. "Can you manage on your own," she asked Wright, "or would you like a wheelchair?"

Wright's face flickered with thoughts of all the exciting things he could get up to in a wheelchair. Racing down hills. Wheeling around irresponsibly. Generally annoying Anake. It all seemed good.
But no, his pride was at stake.
He got up with no complaint, ignoring the biting pain.
"I told you, I'm fine, nurse." He insisted. "Wow. Cast, eh? I don't normally do that when I fracture bones..."
Something about Wright made it easy to believe that he did that often... Yet, the fact he'd hardly ever been to the hospital seemed to sum up the problem.
